charnwood - lowest incomes, biggest flatscreens

Gerry-Built has sent in this corker although he appears to have done it on the fly, unwilling to leave his car in this neck of the woods.

Taken on the corner of Tillyard Dr and Kerrigan St the warning sign now reads “Charnwood Lowest Incomes Biggest Flatscreens”.

In this spirit what other suburbs could do with this style of additional documentation?

UPDATE: GB has now sent in a better pic, many thanks.

While we’re at it, lets also throw some insults the way of people who live in China. Perhaps if your gay lets also have a chuckle? Handicapped anyone? Eventually it’ll all come back to “your momma” insults.

At the end of the day most people will handle the insults okay, but 0.01% will go off the deep end. Hope they don’t have access to guns like they do in Arizona.

oh, please. I saw the photo, had a chuckle and moved on. whoever did it (the sign) should be found and congratulated. Stellar piece of work.

I would be more offended by the comment that we have a percentile or two below the ACT average level income or education, if it was going to bother me.

and for the record, I grew up in charnwood.

On the bike path entering Curtin from the Cotter Road side, there used to be (probably still is, unless the recent resurfacing went down that way) “Curtin Suburban Elite” in 12″ purple house paint lettering – each letter was about a foot high.

I could never figure out whether it was a compliment or an insult.

I live in Charnwood, & thought this was hilarious. Good comedy communicates a lot with few words – and this is comedy gold.

Onya LiquidIce! Nice to see someone with a sense of humour that extends to themself.

It’s a gee-up, and it’s wittily done. If I lived in Charnwood and saw that I think I’d manage a grin. I’d certainly prefer a wry and clever dig like that to reading the usual crappy graffiti tags and other garbage I see sprayed all over other parts of town.

I really think that’s a bit “out there”
How does a comment about a sign in Charnwood go to poking fun at people in China or the ghetto??
Do only people in Arizona have access to guns?

If 0.01% of people in Charnwood might go off the deepend…..how many people is that???

Assuming that is wood, I’m surprised no ones burned it down yet.

All steel 🙂

The new addition to the sign seems to be simply vinyl cut letters… the kind that are frequently seen around Charnwood-based cars, arranged as the Southern Cross…

The additional touch of the White Commodore in the background was simply luck…

Yeah – ’cause that’s *EXACTLY* the same…

Oh my! That is gold!!

@JohnBoy: Had to make it a flying-stop, I drive a White Holden Commodore – car of choice for thugs Canberra-wide… It’d be like moth to the flame in the ‘wood… besides, the ‘good spot’ was taken by the other cars taking photos – LOL

@gibbering: could you please advise the name of your Surgeon? I was considering having me sense-of-humour removed also…

@gg: both ‘facts’ have to be considered ‘per average’ 😛

I laughed when I saw it, just wanted to share the love… peace out…

I had a giggle when I read this, although of note Charnwood property (according to All Homes) went up by 14.3% over the past 12 months. (Maybe explaining why residents can afford large screen TV’s)

What a lie.

They don’t have the biggest flatscreens.

I damn near peed myself. 🙂

Lol, how long until someone steals that sign?

I gave it a dislike rating as while I don’t live in Charnwood I think encouraging divisiveness in our community will only end in harm. We’re still some way from what you see in America (or even up the road in Manly), but I think it’s a road to stay well clear of don’t you think?

In the US, Fox News claims the highroad as only reporting what the Tea Party says is true and hence can wash their hands of any lunancy that ensues. I guess it depends what kind of media you want to set yourself up as?

Brilliant – Truth in advertising for once! must have seen it in Gerry-Built’s travels.

Let’s not get too divisive or judgemental because of the people of Charnwood perhaps being a percentile or two below the ACT average level income or education.

Hahaha how could anyone dislike that?
