It was all smiles as Senior Constable Jason Farrell returned to duty at Cooma Police Station having recovered from serious injuries sustained while on duty as part of an alleged hit and run in Nimmitabel.

Three people have been charged over the incident and are before the courts.

Snr Const Farrell said he doesn’t remember much of the incident, and his early recovery caused “the most pain and anguish” to his family.

However, he had been overwhelmed by the outpouring of community support and kindness, which he said helped him and his family recover.

“The support I’ve received from members of the community, as well as my brothers and sisters in blue, has been overwhelming and humbling,” he said.

“I thank everyone who has wished me well in my recovery and my return to work.”

“I am very much a community-minded man; I am involved in my community and I know the people in it,” he said.

“I love my job, I enjoy helping people and I am just happy to be here.”

Snr Const Farrell will perform suitable duties as part of his transition back to work.
