The Dock

The Dock reckons they’ll be hosting Canberra’s biggest Origin party … but there’ll be stiff competition for that title! Photo: The Dock.

For a fleeting moment, league fans in the capital dreamed that Origin might be making its debut in the ACT. It wasn’t to be.

Instead, the MCG fixture will be held in Townsville – the furthest north it’s ever travelled (if you don’t count game 4 in Los Angeles in 1987).

Jack Wighton will be the lone Raider making the journey to Far North Queensland, running on for the NSW Blues in Game One.

And although Canberra missed out on a hosting gig, top venues around town are pulling out all of the stops to make it an unforgettable evening of food, drink and competition.

It may not be the obvious choice for catching a footy game, but Limelight Cinemas Tuggeranong is showing the game on the biggest screen in town.

Tickets are $10 and come with a drink on arrival. There will also be a full-service bar inside the cinema selling pizzas, burgers and hot dogs delivered straight to your cinema seat.
