Severe weather warning

BOM have sounded the warning:

A vigorous cold front moving over central parts of the state this morning will continue to the east during the afternoon and evening. Strong to gale force northwesterly winds turning gusty west to southwesterly behind the front.

Damaging wind gusts over 90 km/h are forecast this afternoon in the Hunter, Sydney Metropolitan, Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts.

Damaging winds averaging over 80 km/h, with gusts to 120 km/h are forecast for Alpine areas above 1900 metres today, possibly leading to blizzard conditions.
