I am looking for a quality, independently-owned (i.e. not Mr Minute) shoe repairer who can replace the soles on my husband’s business shoes. When we lived in Sydney, we had a repairer who provided very nice Italian leather soles. Have had trouble finding the same thing in Canberra.
We have tried Joe’s Boots in Kingston but they didn’t want to put leather soles on the shoes. We were not happy with the quality of the leather Mr. Minute provided.
Inner South or City locations preferred but will consider all suggestions!
Thanks
ive always taken my shoes to joes in kingston.they do a great job, always happy.ive always got leather put on my soles there if ive asked but most of the time i ask for rubber so it last longer.ive been to the guy in dickson once too,he was good also.both well priced
Redpaths does an excellent job for a reasonable price. Resole in leather, heel and reline for $65.
another vote for redpaths from me
Isn’t the number one rule of leather soled shoes to straight away get them re-soled with a thin rubber layer? Straight leather soles might be comfortable but aren’t vey hardy and can let in water.
There’s a Cobbler with a tiny little hole-in-the-wall shop in Dickson, opposite the post office. He’s done a great job putting suede soles on shoes for me.
I have always been happy with the guy in Baileys Arcade. I went in with a belt that needed some new holes punched in it recently. He did it on the spot for free.
The Cooleman Cobler in Weston. Been taking my shoes to him for a very long time and have never been disappointed.
#6 +1
been going to that guy for 20+ years.
JP shoe reapair.
They dont have eftpos.
Redpaths – got a pair of Docs resoled there recently and they did a decent job.
The old fellow under the stairs at the Boulovade does a good job
+1 Redpaths.
I got replacement leather soles for a pair of expensive shoes without even having to ask. Of course, had they asked I would have said synthetic soles please (cos I find they last longer). Lesson for next time – but Redpaths is great. I got there a lot for shoe repairs.
The Redpaths retail shoe shop next door is also worth a peek if you feel like burning a hole in your pocket on another pair of shoes!
The independent sho man in manuka is very good – but I can’t remember the name offhand, sorry.
+1 Redpaths. Job well done in my experience.
Joes Boots in Kingston. Just a couple of doors up from the Belgian Cafe. If you’ve got a spare $25 youcan have a beer while you wait!
Seriously though, Joes meet your criteria.
Have you tried Redpaths in Civic (Garema Place)?
