ACT Policing arrested a 35-year-old Hawker man early this morning (Wednesday, January 26) after a home invasion in Hawker.
Around 10.00pm last night (Tuesday, January 25), a 67-year-old man was inside his unit preparing for bed when the alleged offender knocked on his front door. The man had a conversation with the alleged offender, who then forced his way into the unit and tied him up.
The alleged offender left the unit, taking the victim’s vehicle and fled the area. During this time the victim managed to free himself and contacted police.
Police located the vehicle an hour later at a service station in Civic where the alleged offender was arrested and conveyed to the City Watch House. The male was charged with forcible confinement, burglary, robbery, common assault, intentionally threat to kill a person and take motor vehicle without consent.
The man will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow (Thursday, January 27).
