This Saturday, May 6, will see the cream of the gourmet crop descend on The Terrace, Manuka for the ‘Gourmet Food and Wine Fair’. From 11am to 4pm, Canberra’s ‘foodies’ will have a smorgasbord of culinary delights to choose from.

Canberra’s own award winning Michelen chef and owner of Flavours culinary centre, Jan Gundlach will be conducting cooking demonstrations and taste testings of his gourmet cooking display.

This will be a rare chance for Canberran’s to meet with Mr Gundlach and have the opportunity to learn some of the tricks of the trade and how they can produce fine food in their own homes.

In addition to the cooking demonstrations, The Terrace Manuka’s ‘Gourmet Food and Wine Fair’ will bring together the finest food and wine makers from Canberra and region.

Wine tasting stalls will give people the opportunity to sample some of the Canberra District’s finest cool climate wines and meet the winemakers. Wineries include Jeir Creek Wines, Wily Trout Wines and Kamberra Wine Company.

There will be gourmet food stalls to satisfy any taste. For those with a sweet tooth The Chocolate Shop with their wide variety of chocolate and confectionary and The Fudge People with their delightful, delicious handmade Fudge and Fudge sauces will be sure to satisfy.

Those craving something savoury will be well catered for by Gourmet Taste Buds handmade delectable chutney’s, relishes, pickles, sauces, jams and marmalades; Poachers Pantry’s quality gourmet smoked meats, poultry and game; and Pilpel Fine Foods’ modern Mediterranean gourmet dips.

In addition to the gourmet food and wine on offer, live jazz bands Upper Structure Triad and Three Piece will provide the perfect musical setting for a day of sensory delights.

The Terrace Manuka’s Gourmet Food and Wine Fair is the first of six monthly community events to be held at the recently refurbished centre.

Thanks for your enthusiasm DaNmAn, it really is going to be a great day tomorrow, and something that I think many Canberran’s would love to know about, so spread the word.

And don’t forget that this is a rare opportunity for people to see the amazing Jan Gundlach of Flavours culinery academy in action. Also the wine tastings, cooking demonstrations and live jazz bands are all free, if you need any more of an excuse to come check it out, your crazy!

As a “Qualified but no longer working in the industry” chef, ill be there. Canberra has a great source of locally produced produce and wines. I hope essential ingredient will be showcasing their wares there, at a discounted price of course, i want some vanilla and honey balsamic vinegar. Looks like smoked chicken breats and asparagus carbonara this weekend. YUMMO. Cheers to Lisakennedy for the heads up
