Simon Corbell has made known his happiness with ACT Policing:
Minister for Police and Emergency Services, Simon Corbell, is pleased to report on the strong performance by ACT Policing in their delivery of policing services to the ACT Community.
“ACT Policing’s 2012-13 Annual Purchase Agreement report shows an increase in operational policing numbers, rising from 948.7 in 2011-12 to 973.6 in 2012-13.
“The report demonstrates the continued success of ACT Policing with 27 of the 32 performances measure targets (84%) achieved or exceeded,” Mr Corbell said.
ACT Policing’s strong performance against these targets confirms to the Government that ACT Policing delivers a professional, accountable and transparent policing service to the ACT community.” Mr Corbell said.
So what is the benchmark here? Simon is being “cute” with his doublespeak here!
For the first time in a bloody long time I agree with Simon and the ‘statistics’. I have observed some great work by local detectives and the uniformed boys and girls seem to be kicking some goals lately.
This afternoon I saw the Police black armoured car. It has ‘RESCUE VEHICLE’ painted on it but looks like something that is in in use on the outskirts of Johannesburg.

I suspect, though, that if the police were to hand you a parking ticket you would be the first to complain that they “aren’t out catching real criminals”.
Just don’t mention the parking…. they don’t seem to be performing too well in policing that.
