The Planning Minister Simon Corbell has put out this media release about the new planning system and how he wants everyone to get involved in commenting on it, even though its really been written to make it easy for the developers who are giving money to the ACT Govt for new estates. But will it make it easier for everyone else to make changes to their own homes?
“The proposed development assessment track system in the new Territory Plan will result in an increased range of developments that do not require development approvals, and an increased range of simple structures that do not require building approvals or licensed builders. For example, new houses in new estates will be exempt from development approvals if they meet the rules for single residential dwellings, contained in the Residential Zones Development Code. “
