John Hargreaves has announced that Reverend Canon Simon Wooldridge will be the first pastoral care chaplain at the Alexander Maconochie Centre.

“I am passionate about gaol chaplaincy so I am very excited about my new role,” Canon Wooldridge said.

“While I am a minister of a Christian denomination, my responsibilities are to all prisoners and custodial officers. I will not be making any distinctions between people of different race, creed or colour, or those of no religious affiliation at all,” Canon Wooldridge said.

Having worked at the Goulburn Correctional Centre he’ll certainly be well qualified.

One would hope he can do an exorcisiom on some of the prioners who have demons

A real priest in touch with normal people. He conducted a funeral service for a friend last year and it was the most entertaining and informative service I have been to. I can only wish him well in his new role.

Know him personally also. Top notch human and very well suited to the job.

Yep – Simon is a great man and I think he will do a great job, +1 Swaggie – definitely not your’average’ Minister.

I met this guy when he was a minister at Queanbeyan before he got the gig at Goulburn – top bloke and definitely not your “average” Minister.

Simon Woolford? Will he be playing with the Raiders again as well?

and the fact that he really is a great guy will be a benefit to all he comes in contact with.
