With summer rapidly disappearing, it’s best to take the opportunity to be outdoors in the warm sun while you have the chance. This weekend, we recommend the Summerside Festival, presented by The Poachers Way, with its Wine and Literary Dinner at Muse in East Hotel; enjoy a movie with family and friends on the lawns in front of the National Library with Ben & Jerry’s Openair Cinema; or, for those planning a wedding, head up to EPIC on Sunday for Your Local Wedding Guide: Canberra Bridal Expo to meet the people who can help you make it a memorial event.

ALL WEEKEND

The Summerside Festival is full of dining events celebrating local and seasonal produce, opportunities to taste the best of the region’s wines and exciting performances, events and nature experiences. Grab your friends and family and discover summer in the capital region. Enjoy a lazy long lunch, or an afternoon of live music. Try a master class, or wine tasting and finish it all off with a twilight horse ride. This weekend’s picks include: the Wine and Literary Dinner at Muse in East Hotel on Saturday night (call Muse for tickets as online bookings have closed, 6178 0024), and Live Music at the Barrel Room on Sunday afternoon (tickets available online).

With music by day and movies by night, you won’t want to miss the Ben & Jerry’s Openair Cinema setting up beside Lake Burley Griffin this summer. Music is performed by local emerging artists and bands, while the blockbusters of 2015 light up the screen from dusk. Best of all, every Sunday is the Sundae Session where everyone scores a free Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Catch Point Break on Friday, kid-friendly The Good Dinosaur on Saturday or Clueless on Sunday.
