The Summerside Festival is full of dining events celebrating local and seasonal produce, opportunities to taste the best of the region’s wines and exciting performances, events and nature experiences. Grab your friends and family and discover summer in the capital region. Enjoy a lazy long lunch, or an afternoon of live music. Try a master class, or wine tasting and finish it all off with a twilight horse ride. With music by day and movies by night, you won’t want to miss the Ben & Jerry’s Openair Cinema setting up beside Lake Burley Griffin this summer. Music is performed by local emerging artists and bands, while the blockbusters of 2015 light up the screen from dusk. Best of all, every Sunday is the Sundae Session where everyone scores a free Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Catch Point Break on Friday, kid-friendly The Good Dinosaur on Saturday or Clueless on Sunday.

Horror show with a magic lantern
Where: National Portrait Gallery, King Edward Terrace, Parkes; When: 6pm and 7pm
As part of the National Portrait Gallery’s summer late-night program, watch an animated horror show this Friday. Hand-painted slides of the macabre and the grotesque, the shocking and the heartbreaking, will be thrown onto the screen from the magic lantern. No bookings are required, and there is no charge (although, donations are welcome).
Diana Krall’s Wallflower World Tour

Five-time Grammy Award winning jazz pianist and world-renowned singer, Diana Krall, brings her Wallflower World Tour to Canberra this Friday night. Touring in support of her latest album (her twelfth release), the ARIA Jazz Chart #1 Wallflower, the shows will highlight Krall breaking new ground with her interpretations of some of the greatest pop songs of all time, as well as favourites from her extensive catalogue. Canberra audiences will be treated to Krall performing with her band and a string section.

To open the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s 2016 season, new ACO Collective Artistic Director and Finnish violinist Pekka Kuusisto, leads the ACO Collective in a program of that intertwines contemporary works with pieces from Beethoven.
