Canberra CBD has let it be known they’re extending the wildly popular Skate In The City through the coming weekend:

Canberra CBD Limited Stephen Gregory said – “Everyone is absolutely thrilled with the response to the event and Garema Place has been a hive of activity during July. We have made the decision to keep the rink open for two extra days and Tossolini’s Apres Cafe will also remain onsite. It’s been a magical month for the hearth of the city and discussion has already begun for 2012. It’s already looking bigger with some new activity being planned!”

Bookings can be made online.

We went last Sunday. I totally support the idea. I think some improvements can be made to how they executed the idea. (I know, I’m a spoilt European – the only thing they do really well there is organise events!) I thought the fence around it was a bit of a shame. It would be nice to have spectators right there sipping a cofffee (or a mulled wine even) and watching the fun. It was boring for the non-skaters.

There were also way too many people allowed at once and the friend who took my daughter onto the ice said it was rather frustrating.

But definitely worth repeating!

This was such a good idea, took CSRI jr and we both had a great time.
