Great news for Canberra snow fans – Perisher have had the Front Valley guns going and are opening for business from tomorrow. The price is right for a quick weekend visit too, or mid-week would be nice and quiet. Time to wax the board…

The official Perisher notice:

Perisher is excited to announce that thanks to recent snowfalls, combined with snowmaking, we’re opening Mitchell T-Bar on Friday from 10am to 3pm plus the Village 8 Express on Saturday so why not come down for some early turns!

There will be a mini terrain park and basic resort facilities will be operating, all for just $30 Adults and $15 for Children with all proceeds going to charity. Season Pass holders can ski or board for FREE!

Sunday 22nd @ Perisher
Strong NNW-WNW winds – possibly gale force at times about the peaks. Showers developing with periods of rain possible in some areas.
Then it is to snow Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday …….EHYA

Ah crap – no Sunday? I was all ready to get the gear out… 🙁

Yes this info is misleading. Perisher is opening Front Valley only on Friday/Saturday. Also worth noting there will be no ski tube services.

Given that they appear to only be opening for Friday and Saturday only, I think a midweek visit is out of the question.

And ‘season’ opening is usually the June long weekend.

*AHEM*. “Free”? Does a season pass not entitle you to access to the mountain from season opening to season close?

Did I paste that in twice? Must proof better…
