Michael West and Bartron have both sent in pictures of the FM 104.7 Skyfire experience for 2007.

I had something else on last night but, as always, would be interested to hear what you lot thought of it.

Thanks to realityskin who caught it (particularly the F-111 dump and burn) and put it on YouTube

Did not do Mt Coree – I had the work car (corolla Wagon) – just getting to Bulls Head was “fun” dont think it would have liked the rock climb right at the top of Mt Coree.

We were not intending to see the fireworks – but right near where the namadgi sign is – there was a steep drop off road that leads to warks road – There was sufficient clearing in the trees to see all the way to the lake.

The F-111 looked great from Stirling as he headed in towards the lake. Once he lit the fuel up it looked fantastic from where I was.

Of course Danman….& it does sound lovely. Would be awesome from the top of one of those hills off Brindabella Road. Mount Coree is it? A bit of a 4wd (or bike/hike) to get there, but the views over Canberra are fantastic.

best viewed from down in front of the national library with a few thousand pissed teens for company…..oh the humanity!

I could have done it from my balcony in Ngunnawal – but wanted to get out in the bush.

Hope you enjoyed it in Duffy.

Nah…best viewed from your own balcony in Duffy with your lovely wife, smiling son & a bottle of wine. 🙂

andy why are you complaining about no toilets there is a whole lake there at your disposal, they have even installed australian of the year seats to help you out along the way

for ***** sake though – why can’t the govt organise more toilets.
lines outside the gallery on the southern foreshore were entirely inappropriate.
I’m glad I wasn’t one of the females who felt it would be easier to just use the male toilet.
Screw modesty. The Govt can’t afford that.

(being a male, the issue didn’t bother me so much..)

Cameron I ws sicklst week: hence all the posts. Lots of burning dumps at my place.

PS unreal shots guys! One of these days I’ll get a camera . . .

There were SO many people there – unreal atmosphere and not overcrowded. We arrived by bus at 7:30 ish. Didn’t catch much of the preceding concert as we were too far from a screen, but it didn’t matter. We were near where the youtube clip was shot from, ie on the regatta globe side, which was comfortably packed all along the lake. The other side of the lake, that you can see in the pics, was also packed. Weather was ideal, balmy with just the hint of a breeze. The National Library was purple-lit, and Questacon (or whatever that turret building is) was blue.

Buses were standing room full, yet everyone was in good spirits and not one ‘sillybuggers moment’ to report. A first class fireworks display, there were hearts, the letter S for Superman, some gorgeous weeping golden ones, all in synch. Just awesome, we’ll go again. I recommend the bus.

It was a fantastic night – I had a small picnic with some friends on the southern foreshore of LBG and all their expectations were exceeded. I have to admit that I LOVE skyfire because it is just a great opportunity to gather with friends overlooking our beautiful city and be entertained by fantastic fireworks to imaginative soundtracks. Will be booking myslef in again next year.

Skyfire. Yawn.

Thanks for the comment by Nik.

But I would like to correct that the YouTube video is NOT mine.

jw, your images are awesome!

best viewed from Brindabella Road – with your woman and a picnic hamper – Dinner at bulls head then on to the main event…. No crowds – no noise (apart from the radio and normal bush noises) and no traffic. I reckon Ill do that again

After just missing the Aussie Day one, I was ready for it this time… Photos here

Also, lots more photos in this discussion in the Canberra flickr group here.

The dump and burn happened while I was still in the carpark (damn civic traffic). It managed to set off 5 or 6 car alarms so not only did we get the roar of the F-111 but a pre-firework blinking light show.

thats exactulary what happend to me, as soon as i was about to take a photo of the dump and burn, my batteries went flat! 🙁

we tried to get the dump and burn but my batteries had run out, and my mate didn’t get it framed in time

heres some video from my little digital camera we took
