We’ve had people from Bungendore phone in saying they are snowed into their houses with 6 inches of snow in their yards, and people from Wamboin reporting driving in through the snow.

Any more reports – and any photos?

UPDATED – Just got the below email forwarded on to me from NSW Police media

Roads closed due to heavy snowfalls, police urge caution – Bungendore/Queanbeyan
14 June 2007

Monaro Local Area Command officers are urging motorists to delay their travels following heavy snowfalls which have resulted in a number of minor collisions and road closures. The continuing snowfalls have forced the closure of the Kings Highway between Queanbeyan and Bungendore. Captains Flat Road is also closed from the Kings Highway to Braidwood. Snow fall and ice is making travel on roads in the area treacherous. There have been numerous minor motor vehicle accidents on the Kings Highway within the ACT. These incidents are being investigated by the Australian Federal Police. A grader is currently being used to remove snow and ice from the roads. Other road closures include: • Jerangle Road between Captains Flat and Bredbo, and • Briar Sharrow Road. Road blocks and closures are being managed by the RTA and SES. Police expect the Kings Highway to be re-opened later today.

Just looking at those photos of yours andy makes me feel very cold … brrrrrrrr … winter has definitely arrived.

JFTR over here in Duffy we got a bit of a sleet shower at around 11:45 this morning.

gsg, not sure. they were sent to me at work.
I’m not takin credit for them.

Not everyone got a day off school. P plater at my kids college still made it to school despite living out near Bungendore and being “snowed in”. Took him a while and he had to take a country track near Womboin. Motivated student I’ll say!

Where were those shots taken, Andy?

I’ve got some photos but am not sure how to stick them on here. While the radio was screeching that the Captain’s Flat Road was closed, I could see plenty of cars steaming along it at their usual silly speeds. No wonder there’s crashes everywhere. And I think I can see activity on the HQ JOC site too… those guys work in the night, in the snow…

Ok.

Sorry Sammy I had a typo in my link, got complacent and didn’t check it and you were right it didn’t work – that’s fixed now.

Al, as for linking, in a post it should be easy, you hit the blue “link” button at just above the text box. Then you type in or paste the web address you are linking to in the box that pops up and press “ok”.

You should notice that the link button now looks like “/link”. Type in the text you want to appear as the link and then press the “/link” button, closing the link and you are done.

Linking in posts isn’t as easy but all you need to do is type <a href=”LINK ADDRESS IN HERE”> then the text you want to appear here </a>

new FAQ Al, hopefully this one is a little clearer.

6 inches is “snowed in”?

Six inches of snow anywhere in Aust is being snowed in! Plus we’ll take any excuse for a day off work/school!!

All kiddies in Captain’s Flat, Bungendore, etc have apparently got the day off school, as the school busses aren’t running with the snow.

Ntp: have you ever read the bit in FAQs on your site about how to create a link?
Clear as mud to this non-html person…

Ed – Is it so hard to link?

Obviously it is, because your link in the story above doesn’t work in Safari for Mac. Oh, the irony.

fnaah, had a look at that. Nick Austin – poor bugger what an unfortunate name to be stuck with ;). Unlike his children not a double n or y to be seen.

She could not get her fully sik car out of the driveway – did not want to use the front spoiler as a snow plow. It was a good excuse to me.

Now reported as slush as rain has melted the snow…

The Kings Highway is still closed due to an accident.

Sleet on teh drive in fron Ngunnawal at 0615 – thats about it for me.

That family (in the ABC article) get bonus points for unusual names.

What ever happened to that segment, anyway?
