Simon Corbell and the National Capital Authority (a band name unlikely to ever get up) have announced they’re hard at work to increase development at Terry Snow’s Canberra Airport:
The National Capital Authority (NCA) and the ACT Government are working together to open a block of land near the airport for industrial mixed use, with public consultation starting this week.
Proposed changes to the Territory Plan and National Capital Plan will allow development such as bulky goods retailing, warehousing, freight and distribution services on parts of Block 4 Section 9 and Block 2Section 12 Pialligo.
The ACT Government proposes making the changes through a draft variation to the Territory Plan (DV324), which would change the site from broadacre to industrial mixed use, while the NCA is releasing Draft Amendment 84 (DA84) to the National Capital Plan, which proposes to expand the urban area at Pialligo from Broadacre to Urban Area.
“It is important for the NCA and ACT Government to work in unison to be able to supply large sites to continue the ongoing economic and employment opportunities in the region,” Minister for the Environment and Sustainable Development, Simon Corbell said today.
“The ACT Government will also continue to work with local stakeholders to improve the economic and employment opportunities for the region.”
