It may not have trains, or rails, but Simon Corbell has the happy news that Capital Metro has senior appointments:

Two important project leaders have been appointed to the Capital Metro Project, to drive and direct the development of Canberra’s first light rail line, Minister for the Environment and Sustainable Development, Simon Corbell, announced today.

“The Independent Chair of the Capital Metro Project Board is John Fitzgerald, while the Capital Metro Project Director is Emma Thomas,” Mr Corbell said.

“Their appointments follow an exhaustive recruitment process, and will bring a wealth of experience and talent to this transformative project.”

Pleasingly they do seem to have some solid experience in the field.

So it’s absolutely horrendous to call someone a chickie but ok to call them a thing?

So, has the light rail project been given formal approval to go ahead yet, or are these blow-ins just here to make a quick buck before heading home when the funds run out? $30 million promised for “studies” does not a metro rail project make. Until the funding has actually been allocated, I think it is a waste to be putting people in probably well paid jobs, that may achieve nothing in the end.

….oh, those ratepayers were forgotten. AGAIN

Tuggies, you got no chance.

Don’t vote Labor, that’s why.

Now that would be a job with plenty of opportunity for junkets. World tour to look at trams?

Good to see some progress. Because the material they’ve put out about the current consultation is pretty ordinary. Heaps of large PDFs, all only one or two pages, many with redundant details, and separate links for every one: http://www.capitalmetro.act.gov.au/light-rail-integration-study
Even just finding the most current info on the main page was worthy of HHGTTG: http://www.capitalmetro.act.gov.au/

Nothing but silence re: another position there for which I applied (comms mgr).

(BTW JB are you aware that some workplaces block Google Docs, meaning these attachments can’t be viewed, unlike links to the source?)
