Simon Corbell has the happy news that Solicitor-General for the ACT, Peter Garrisson, is now a Senior Counsel:

“I congratulate Mr Garrisson on his appointment as Senior Counsel, which recognises his impressive contribution to the legal profession and to the ACT,” said Mr Corbell.

The Bar’s decision to appoint Mr Garrisson as Senior Counsel was announced today, and follows a long career of dedicated service to the Territory.

Mr Garrisson has served as Solicitor-General for the ACT since August 2011. He previously served as Chief

Solicitor for the Territory from 2004, having joined the ACT Government Solicitor’s Office in 1999 as Deputy Chief Solicitor.

“As Solicitor-General and Second Law Officer, Mr Garrisson is the principal legal advisor to the ACT Government and has advised the government on many difficult and complex issues,” Mr Corbell said.

And what about Mr Hat?

Can’t remember which episode but Mr Garrison said “Mr Hat, go to hell, you go to hell and you die…”

Ah, so he’s moving to Charnwood?

Ludicrous.

Canberra “silks” are a joke in Sydney, where such awards are made on merit rather than for being part of the club.
