NSW Police are very excited by their discovery of Shoalhaven cannabis plantations which they describe as “booby-trapped”:
The plantations, located off Yarran Road, Tomerong, had established watering systems and were surrounded by a number of rabbit traps.
Police seized 173 cannabis plants from the area with an estimated potential street value of $173,000.
Yesterday (Tuesday 22 January 2013), police discovered five more cannabis plantations off Deans Gap Road, Yerriyong. Due to their remote location officers had to be winched into the area by Polair.
In the bushland, police discovered five small plots which were all fenced off and surrounded by trip wires and animal traps.
A total of 53 cannabis plants with an estimated potential street value of $106,000 were subsequently removed from the area.
One can’t help wondering if the animal traps are intended to stop animals getting into the crop.
