Another Lights! Canberra! Action! entry has surfaced on YouTube, this one by “lookatmyshorts”, posted with the following note:

Southern Hills High is an award winning film created for the Lights! Canberra! Action! 2009 short film festival.
The Lights! Canberra! Action! theme this year was “Stake Out”

Welcome to Mr D’s excursion to Canberra where there is some confusion over the staking out ceremony of the Performing Arts Academy of Australia.

    Best Actor- James Hunter
    Best Original Music- Jeff Evans

Fans of the ABC’s “Summer Heights High” will, I’m sure, have an opinion.

As one of the film makers, there was no intention to be original, I have worked on many original films, with many more in production, this was just a bit of fun, for a fun festival playing on a show people know, and it payed off with two awards taken. James Hunter did a good job with the characters improvising almost the entire content providing a faithful tribute to Chris Lilly. Whilst unintentionally tricking many of the general public into believing we were the real show, had many “Is that Chris Lilly” comments whilst shooting.

Anyway guys all criticism is good! Look out for our next one! Its very different and ORIGINAL next time!

Well.. I didn’t mind it, was funny but I did mutter through it at some point did they have to copy Summer Height’s High so much? That in turn confused my boyfriend who thought it was Mr.D himself and probably the others. I explained again it was the short film and not any of those T.V actors and he then came round to think that was s***.

Good enough to almost fool one I guess.

not very refreshing at all

haha Omar! “you nearly killed me and you said you couldn’t break dance.”

A+ !

While I wasn’t really a fan of Summer Heights High, I do have to say the short very good and well made.

I also thought it was very funny. I loved his teenage girl character the best.

Lol. It’s funny.

Yep, cute. A bit of a tribute to the real Mr D 😉

They’ve done quite well!

Good impression. I wish it had been something original though.
