Spam a lot of fun

Bill Stephen’s best summed up the opening night of ‘Spamalot’ last night….”delightfully silly”! Supa’s adaptation of the Monty Python production was full of hilarious classic Python gags, witty dialogue and skits.

The show gives the birdie to political correctness with the sexually-confused Sir Lancelot character and the stereotyping of the French outrageously funny. The Lady of the Lake’s (Louiza Blomfield) songs (Lloyd-Webber inspired spoofs) were also standouts. While the main cast were sensational the Bunny and Patsy (Will Huang) were infectiously entertaining.

I am sure Eric Idle and his fellow Pythons would be very impressed with Ron Dowd’s production – well done cast, band and crew!

You’d be a “very naughty boy” if you do not get along to ‘Spamalot’ at the ANU Arts Centre.

Ah – I know who you are

I attended this fantastic production last night. Oh particular note was the French Taunting scene. Masterful, I almost wet myself.

Thanks guys.

Astro. It has been a hell of a lot of fun to rehearse and a great cast (like when we did the Wall, not an issue at all).

err Ozhair. You are in the cast??? Hmmmmmmm…

Thanks Che. The problems you noted have indeed been addressed. And if you went on opening night then you got to unknowingly see an event that will go down in ACT theatre legend and the audience never even knew lol

good fun night with a new pythonesque take on the broadway musical

if you get dinner at Vivaldis before the show they even have spam on the menu (which was pretty good) and a can of SPAM so you know what it really looks like

Patsy and the coconut tap dance were a standout for me on opening night, where there were a few issues with lighting and props which I’m sure will have been fixed by the next show

If you haven’t seen Spamalot before and want some more Python in your life then don’t miss out

It also features me in a dress (among other costumes) 😉

It’s a fun night out, whether you’re a die-hard Python fan or not.

thanks for the review, george, sounds fab! i was in ron’s ‘the wall’, and if his approach to that is any indication, ‘spamalot’ should be a right hoot, very well produced!

and You’d be a “very naughty boy” if you do not get along to ‘Spamalot’ at the ANU Arts Centre.; so if i go, i am the messiah?

have a cigar!
