Specific storm warning coming in

The Bureau of Meteorology issued a specific warning warns at 5:40 pm for severe thunderstorms forecast to affect Belconnen, Canberra Civic, Queanbeyan, Gungahlin and Canberra Airport by 6:10pm tonight.

Large hailstones, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and damaging winds are likely.

The ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) has stood up several units ready to respond to any reports of damage.

For emergency storm and flood assistance you can ring the ACTSES on 132 500.

Lightning over the airport shut it down for 1/2 an hour. Planes couldn’t unload or load passengers, and the flight from Sydney got diverted back to Sydney 🙁 Nice lightning display though 🙂
