Rugbyheaven is fuelling speculation first raised in the Herald that Matt Giteau is considering a return to the Brumbies. As noted in the article it would be a welcome return and perfect timing given George and Burnie’s retirement but I think we would need to make it clear that it would only be on the condition that Perth keep Henjak.

You don’t get to be a great side by re-employing money chasers … lets get the younger generation in balance with the existing experienced heads get the team going again and tell the money chasers to get stuffed!

I’d be happy to see him back in two more years

The lad is a remarkable talent. I loved watching his speed, balance, timing and exuberance when he was with the Brumbies and was sad when he left. I’d love to see him back here.

But he has a contract, made in good faith, with the Force, under which they pay him scads of money and he does his amazing things for them. The Force would have planned around him for the period of his contract and, while they continue to pay up as required and do whatever else they have to do, he really has no reason to terminate the contract. Letting him walk out might be more than nice of them, but it may also send a terrible message about ignoring commitments. Sometimes it’s best to do the right thing, even if it means the Brumbies miss out on a talented player.

Ooooh…that’d be nice. I’d have to stop calling him “turncoat”.
