I had to read ths twice before I believed how quickly this matter was dealt with in Queanbeyan. I bet the driver regrets crossing the border:

In Queanbeyan Local Court on Monday Sepehrnia was charged with five offences including driving with an expired licence, police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly and displaying unauthorised number plates.

Magistrate Chris Bone heard Sepehrnia was in Canberra visiting a friend.

He panicked when police tried to stop him because he didn’t have a driver’s licence.

Magistrate Bone said Sepehrnia had a bad driving record which included several offences of driving without a valid licence.

He was sentenced to four months in prison.

Not really any quicker than if he had pled guilty in an ACT court.

This just confirms my beliefs that should I ever find myself doing the wrong thing, I will be heading to the ACT to get caught. Then I will get a cuddle and some court costs as punishment.

I tip my hat to the judicial system working out of Qbn. Well done (Im talking about sentencing here). You could teach a few things to the magistrates this side of the border.

The only way that was dealt with that quickly is if the defendant pleaded guilty.

He was probably too busy picking bits of road out of himself to notice what his lawyer was doing.

The only way that was dealt with that quickly is if the defendant pleaded guilty.

I keep saying this, but the ACT should sub-contract its law enforcement and court system to Queanbeyan.
