Hello everybody,

  • Have you ever been keen to perform a dance routine with your favourite sports stars?
  • Have you wanted to score a goal against Canberra United player, skeet shoot or try and give it a go with a paddle in a dragon boat?
  • Would your kids be keen to compete in a tug-of-war with Canberra’s sporting elite?
  • Have you peered through a window at a gym and thought what it would be like to be a part of a Sh’bam or Body Combat class?

 …Well now is your chance!

Come and get involved at Sport for Women Day on Sunday 4th March, kicking off at 11am.This exciting new element of the Canberra Festival will invite Canberrans to celebrate healthy, active and balanced lifestyles for people of all ages with a host of activity.

Sport for Women Day 2012 is a social occasion for all the family, bringing the community together to share experiences, exchange stories and participate in a day of fun filled activity. The highlight of the day will see all of Canberra’s school children come together to perform a dance routine…and everyone can join in!

Sporting stars and celebrities from all over Australia will also be there on the day to demonstrate their talents and provide expert tuition for all. There will be autograph sessions with the elite athletes, with Canberra United and Touch Football Australia hosting tournaments throughout the day.

If you don’t fancy taking part in one of free Les Mills exercise classes that the day has on offer, then why don’t you bring the family down, relax and soak up the atmosphere? A great variety of food and refreshments will be available all day!

There is heaps to do for the kids – sports demos, animalates, jumping castles…the list goes on… It will be a non-stop day of action hosted by ABC’s Stephanie Brantz.

So come and join us for this colourful festival of sport, dance and recreation – Get involved for Sport for Women Day 2012!
