Good to see Andrew Barr out supporting and competing in the Corporate Triathlon today (Sunday). Kudos to the man as well for rejecting the offer to make a speech.

Apart from that it was a well run event with a lot of people looking like they were having a ball.

With the Urban Polaris on as well today a lot of people got their 20 minutes of exercise.

Was my third year being a part of this triathlon..it’s always a good morning out. Only sad thing this year is that my neighbours & I failed to defend our category title from last year….grrrrrr…damn ACT Ambos! 🙂

& Yep, good to see Andrew Barr giving it a go & particularly for declining the chance to make any political statements.

I don’t think jakez is suggesting that they don’t participate, just that they be seen and not heard.

I always knew there was a reason that saying existed, but could never understand why it would be applied to children, who seem invariably more intelligent than their older counterparts. Having lived in this government town for a decade I now believe that some politician had it redirected from “politicians should be seen and not heard”, which is now my motto.

A politician is a glorified administrator, and should be glorified by being locked in a soundproof booth the moment s/he is elected.

Why can’t they participate – they are people too. Mr Barr competed with people from his department from what I could see. Fairly sure that the ACT govt. was a sponsor at some level as well.

(I have NO affiliation with the ACT Govt other than funding their activities through paying tax!)

I’ll give props to any politician that declines to give a speech in that situation.

There’s entirely too much Government in our social activities. I’m not saying politicians shouldn’t be invited to things, but that they should be put up the back in a corner, behind a table, well out of the way.
