Canberra Ultimate is calling for players for their summer leagues.

One is kicking off on 20 Jan, the other on 3 February.

If you’re wondering what this is all about there’s an illuminating wiki page here.

Now does anyone know if there’s a beer drinking league?

There’s plenty of beer at Canberra Ultimate. For the current info, check out: https://sites.google.com/site/canberraultimatemensleague/

Its sad to hear you didn’t have such a positive experience playing in our local league bloodnut. If you were an amateur beginner as you said, you must have won the lowest division and unfortunately that is where some of the more clueless (and perhaps bitter?) players and teams reside.

I’m sure you would have had a much better contest and experience if you played in the higer divisions or at tournaments.

Unfortuately there was a tendency towards anti-athleticism in the past and while the Australian Ultimate community has moved far beyond that, there are still pockets of it hiding about.

Have a look at this youtube video to see ultimate as it is today at its highest level. The Canberra Men’s team (In Yellow/Mango) is shown quite a lot, playing in the 2008 final and the Canberra Women’s team is also in there in the Royal Blue.

actually JB i managed to combine both in my short lived career in ultimate frisbee – beer was a must.

in my two years (and two championships) playing, i found them to be a bunch of arseholes to be honest – bitching and moaning when they’re beaten at their own game by amateur beginners.

join if you dont mind being overlorded by ANU post-grad, mid-strength, academic mediocrity.

instead, we now play frisbee in fenner park as its much more sociable and enjoyable.
