Spring is in the air

Thumper 8 September 2008 23

I don’t know about the rest you little Rioters, but yesterday had a definite feel of spring.

I love spring, and canberra is one of the best places in the world to experience this season.

Feel free to add superlatives about spring in the capital.

Ahhh, Spring. I spent a great day with the family yesterday at Weston park, including an hour or so just sitting fishing. I was wearing only shorts and a t-shirt. Lake BG and it’s surrounds looked perfect. I love Canberra.

Yep, started taking me hayfever meds yesterday 🙁

Thought so. I copped a similar tag many years ago when a friend and colleague alleged I used to hop/dance about when excited. Never saw it myself. Though I did keep spilling half my coffee on myself routinely. Weird.

My, you are a happy little bunny today — is that where the name came from?!

Actually, yes…

Ah the wonders of trying to breathe without choking on the seed fluff at Kippax…
Cold at Kambah?? We had our 6-star house wide open all day yesterday. And it was still 19 degrees at 6 this morning – without any heating on for… can’t remember when we turned it on – mid last week sometime I think.

I love spring. Everything is awakening from a long winters slumber and about to burst into joyous life.

Or maybe it’s just because it’s warming up 🙂

Unfortunately, though I was spending my two to three-weekendly soujourn (I think that’s one too many Us in there) at the coast, I was pole-axed by the gastro bug from hell, so I’m warming to spring slightly slower. Doing my own 72 hour famine for no cause in particular.

Mind you, in terms of noticing the seasonal change, I’ve found that the [comment that I was to write about one element of my night-attire has been deleted by the poster in the interests of good fashion sense and not-too-much-self-disclosure].

When I was a child spring was my favourite season. As a teenager I loved summer. These days I find Autumn the most wonderful time. Maybe due to climate change it seems warmer now than when I was growing up here.

I still do love spring though. For me the difference between spring and autumn is like sunrise and sunset. How do you choose?

I also love the pink and white blossoms, the tender green juiciness of the budding leaves, the vivid hues of Floriade and the crispness of the sunshine. Spring is celebration, hope, and anticipation – the sense that something really good is just on the verge of happening.

As someone who suffers from hayfever, i do not look upon Spring with the joy that you all share.

Noooo…
Between GCC ‘work’ and the mega-tender, only had one day down the mountains on my board.
Am NOT ready for an end to winter yet…
Besides, it hasn’t even been cold yet.

The wattle explosion on Tuggy Parkway was very pretty when I headed up to Gungahlin on the weekend.

bring on the sun and warm!

but did anyone think that winter this year wasnt as cold or long as previous years ??

I posted two pictures of the spring ‘explosion’ that is currently occurring in our garden on my blog: Spring iz Sprung.

I have a bit of a thing for cherry blossoms, and the ones in my garden are just spectacular right now!

Corker of a day – spent it in the sun looking for abandoned warehouses in Yass to fly RC planes and helicopters – and a bit of trainspotting to boot.

PS if anyone knows any local abandoned warehouses hook me up 🙂

Even th emorning sun is warmer – when I stepped out this morning at around 0830 (Late one for me :P) I could feel the immediate warmnth in the sun.

Driving to a mates in duffy from Ngunnawal Mrs Danman and I could smell a few BBQ’s in prgress and thought yeah – its that season again at last.
