Hi all,

I’m in the Tuggers region and looking for an squash centre that would be open for court hire at night. Ideally, I’d like to get down after work for a while. Are there any such places that fit the bill? If so, what’s the hire rates like?

Thanks for your help!

You’ll find a friendly bunch for social squash at http://southcanberrasquash.com.au/

Aha! First button is “Where can I play squash?”

What Mattenagger said. The Active Leisure courts are/were quite good when I was playing Pennant several years ago. Back then, comp nights were Tuesday to Thursday nights, but there were usually courts still available at those times if you booked in advance enough.

Pennant is also a great fun and social thing to be a part of. Just to qualify comments here, I played from Div 17 to the dizzying nose-bleeding heights of Div 14 (acting), so it’s a little bit more hit and giggle down there, albeit it still competitive.

http://www.squashact.asn.au/ will have all the details plus venues. If you’re prepared to go a little further afield, the courts at Weston Creek are a little more rustic but typically not as heavily booked or used for comps.

G’day Wicklow,

There are 6 or so courts at the Active Leisure Centre at Erindale which are available for hire. You just have to pick your time so as not to interfere with the local competition nights. The rates are approx $15 an hour. There are also courts in Woden near the Phillip Ice Skating Centre.
