ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an aggravated robbery in Charnwood last night (Saturday, 5 February).

Around 8.30pm a 28-year-old Dunlop man was walking back to his car, parked near the loading dock at Woolworths, when he felt something sharp stick into his back. He heard a male voice instruct him to hand over his possessions.

The victim gave his possessions to the offender, who ran west into a nearby reserve.

The offender is described as 173cm (5’8”) tall, wearing black tracksuit pants and a white hooded jumper.

Police ask anyone who was at the Charnwood shops at that time and may have seen someone matching the description to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

Situational awareness people! How many times do I have to tell you!!!!!!!

Aint no way anyone would get that close to me or mine while out shopping, especially at night. You need to use your senses. If you appear to be taking notice of your surroundings, these scumbags will ignore you and wait for some average shmuck with his thumb up his arse, wandering back to his car while living in la-la land.

Have to agree with the Captain here, a lot of people have no spatial awareness.

Might be worth checking the HD video cameras outside the club.

Wonder if it is the same 15yo original australian wearing a hoodie that attacked my wife and I with rocks one night when we refused to give him money, just as we were leaving the Charnwood Labor Club.

Reported it eventually to the police, but that was mainly a feel good exercise as there was virtually no real description of the attacker.

Needless to say we no longer walk over there, pity as it is only 200 metres from home. Anyway, that’s life in Charnwood for you. Wont be long before we need armoured cars to do the shopping!
