The ABC have a rundown on the still undecided fate of the Canberra Times.

It might be going tabloid, or might not. There will be voluntary redundancies, but they don’t know how many. The parliamentary bureau might be going, or it might be staying.

Holy smokes, Crispin Hull and I agree on something. He said on 7.30 tonight that CT has to stop the duplication with the national branches of Fairfax, including having 6 of its own staff in the Federal Parliament Press Gallery for no good reason.

CT editor though said no way, they’ll always have a presence in the Press Gallery. Dill.

Other tidbit to come from tonight’s 7.30 is CT has over 90 “journalists.”

It’s not already a tabloid ??

“…and readers will decide if the paper remains a broadsheet or becomes tabloid format”

I’ll be interested to see how transparent that exercise turns out to be.
