A police firearm has still not been recovered more than a week after it was stolen from an Australian Federal Police (AFP) vehicle in Fraser.
An AFP officer’s duty belt and accoutrements, including the firearm, were taken on 30 September.
An ACT police spokesperson said an investigation into the theft was ongoing but declined to comment on whether disciplinary action would be taken against the police officer involved.
AFP Professional Standards (PRS) is conducting an internal investigation in relation to the incident.
“While there is a PRS investigation underway, no further comment can be made,” an AFP spokesperson said.
ACT Policing is following several lines of enquiry and encourages anyone who may have information about the location of the stolen property to contact police as soon as possible.
Police have also requested dash-cam footage recorded between 5:00 am and midday in Fraser on 30 September.
