The Stone Wall Cafe services the foyer of he vast new edifice on University Avenue where the old workers’ club used to be.
They have a few take away options under $10 and today I ordered their ham and spinach quiche.
It has been said that real men don’t eat quiche. But they can be rather partial to egg and bacon pie.
For $5.50 a slice of quiche was carved out and microwaved, which is a bit of a crime against pastry.
But after a few dud lunches recently this was a heavenly relief.
Smooth and rich and savoury.
A significant improvement over some of the other offerings this week.
(For more sub $10 lunches in Civic check the tag, if you’ve got recommendations let me know.)
I’ve wondered about that place. Lovely decor and not a bad menu. I walk past it four times a week at lunch time going into Civic, never more than two or three tables taken. Same story for the Chinese place up the road. I get the feeling it’s a bit of a dead zone.
Honestly, that LOOKS revolting.
It’s what a good quiche looks like!
