The ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) is urging the community to consider the weather before heading out for Australia Day festivities in the coming hours.
The Bureau of Meteorology had issued a warn in for severe stirms in the ACT and surrounding region over the next several hours producing damaging winds and large hailstones.
ACTSES units are on standby to respond to calls for help from the public if required but residents should undertake the following actions to be prepared:
o Shelter pets and animals;
o Shelter vehicles or cover with blankets to minimise damage;
o Disconnect electrical appliances from the power; and
