ABC Online have this story on STR going back to the Federal Court today to get the GDE stopped as the road lacks proper environmental approval.
Can someone, somewhere, simply say, “Yes, it has the proper approvals now go away you silly silly persons”
They just don’t give up do they.
This isn’t an ‘again’ (not in the sense you mean, anyway) – this is the actual hearing of the appeal we were all complaining about a couple of months back. We should be happy – they’ve actually started hearing it, which puts us one step closer to getting the road built 🙂
It all makes sense….
Rock on Friday….
I hope costs are awarded against them when they LOSE.
Go STR! I hope they block the GDE forever. Further congestion of the Glenlock (spelling??!) interchange isn’t going to make the trip much faster, the interchange is already at a standstill for much of the morning.
Hash your a f-ckwit
Well thats creative!
I think what he is getting at is the jams, that occur mostly from the -Aranda turn off/Woden merge- towards Belco, will now be relieved by the Gunghalin portion of that traffic avoiding getting on that merge-insanity part of the interchange in the first place.
I want a direct route to get North/south without having to dogleg across the whole of Canberra. That is what the GDE will do for me
Don’t worry hash – the GDE includes a complete redevelopment of Glenloch Interchange, removing traffic lights and improving flow. It will become a proper freeway style intersection:
Bear in mind that STR are incorporated and keep minimal cash opn had at any given time.
I like to see community groups availling themselves of the law to the same extent as our captains of industry.
While personally I would like to see the GDE complete I have nothing but admiration for the way STR have exploited the ACT Government’s inability to adhere to it’s own planning requirements.
Insofar as they are exposing the ludicrous planning regime I think what they are doing is worth a few months delay on the GDE.
Road Spagetti of death….
Good point JB, it does show the ineptness of the current government to actually do something, as opposed to plan for something, which they are very very good at….
i note that the GDE is costed at 85 Mil and the belco busway is 85-180M.
Window washers will no longer be able to ply their trade at five intersections along the light rail corridor. Will you miss them?
