A search is underway tonight for a kayaker stranded along the Murrumbidgee River between Kambah Pool and Pine Island in Tuggeranong.

The alarm was raised after a group of kayakers discovered the person with a suspected serious leg injury at Red Rock Gorge.

One of the group made their way to Kambah Pool and alerted the ACT Ambulance Service.

One ACT Ambulance Service crew is stationed at Kambah Pool while the SouthCare Rescue helicopter searches the area to locate the patient and finders.

Three ACTSES units have been placed on standby to assist on foot if required.

The man was found by two young men I know and he was face down wedged between rocks, no helmet, no life vest and was barely concsious when they finally got him out of the water and onto the bank. One lit a fire while the other went to get help. The man later wandered in to the bush and was unable to be restrained and this is when things went pear shaped. The young men did the right thing and I applaud them.

All applaud to the young men then, good work.

What a dumbass. Not injured enough to go to hospital, but too injured to save your own bloody life?

Seems a little retarded to me. If he was that exhausted he couldn’t paddle, surely he should have been taken to hospital as a precaution. If he wasn’t, then I hope he gets the bill for the rescue…

Yes, but no mention about the all important jet skis? Did the police get to justify their existence?

Yep, on the radio this morning they said the cops went out and found him. He was treated for exposure and minor injuries, but did not need to go to hospital.

1am – Any news if they found them?
