Dunno whether this one got picked up or not. I believe he is a local rugby union player too. Tsk Tsk, the ra-ra boys should know better…

A MAN who ran semi-naked onto a racetrack during his buck’s party has been fined $1000 and banned from drinking at the races for a year.

In court this morning, Brad O’Mara, 31of Canberra, pleaded guilty to entering enclosed land, and behaving in an offensive manner, for his dash along a New South Wales South Coast racecourse.

This is class action material – Sue the idiot – perhaps losing his house, car and any other assets will ensure that the punters get a fair outcome and he gets a $500K+ reminder about his affect on other peoples’ expectations.

It may be a reasonable deterrent for the bum-hugger (rugby) idiots out there into the future although I doubt it.

Gay as two men kissing. But mind you who is he trying to impress – the other blokes or the horses?

He’s not gay.

But his boyfriend is!

What is it about men who get drunk and take their clothes off in front of other blokes: bit gay isn’t it?

He’s lucky he wasn’t killed by the angry mob!

Some more of the story I heard. The bucks party were all staying at a pub in Moruya. They pitched up back there after the races laughing away as you do. Only to find that the owner of the pub also happened to own Morcombe. Boys had to find themselves some accommodation very quickly. And get away from some very angry Moruya punters.

I think he was just lucky it wasn’t a TAB meeting.

Unfortunately for all involved it only gets worse because then we have copycat streakers like the one at Black Opal. What the general public dont realise is that people can and have been killed because of stupid stunts like this. I note in the article about how embarrassed this guy is because of his actions, however the loser who did it in Canberra thinks he is a hero (in his own mind) and was celebrated… Note that 80% of callers on “Balls-n-All” last Saturday thought that streaking should be a part of sport including horse racing.

Theoretically it makes sense, and they probably should. So should all the punters that would have collected. What an awesome role model this guy’ll be when he unfortunately reproduces.

I don’t think he’ll have heard the last of this either, as Bookies and the horse owners were looking into whether they could sue this d1ckhead for any losses they’d incurred because the race was voided by his actions.

Tr this link. Plus this paragraph from the Ararat Advertiser;
“Race leader Morcombe was stretching its lead as it neared the last 150 metres when, while just 14 metres away from the horse, Mr O’Mara jumped up and ran towards the finishing post.

Morcombe shied to the right and collided with the inside running rail as its jockey struggled to regain control.

The horse’s dramatic change of pace allowed second-placed Bournda See to sprint past and win the race. Stewards scrapped the race, which cost the top runners $7000 in prizemoney and forced bookmakers to refund all bets.

Mr O’Mara ran from the track pursued by disgruntled punters and security guards.”

Corkhead.

Don’t know which full story you were trying to link to – but ABC has it here. Not that there’s that much detail.

Don’t understand why in this day and age people still do the streaking thing. Though didn’t that chap who got destroyed by Symonds end up getting paid $9000 for an interview to help offset his $1000 fine?
