Had the following in from the The Big Issue Community Street Soccer Program:

What is the Street Soccer Program?

The street soccer program is a unique initiative of the Big Issue that gives people a chance to change their lives through participation in soccer.

Who does the Street Soccer Program target?

The program targets people in our community people facing personal difficulties in their lives such as homelessness, mental illness, disability, substance abuse or long term unemployment. The program also supports refugees and asylum seekers.

Anyone over the age of 16 can participate. Most players are beginners and have not played soccer before or played sport for a long time. The program no only attracts youth but players well into 30s, 40s and 50s. Fitness and skill levels vary but coach can adapt the sessions for the individual.

So if you’re interested in giving it a go, or know someone who would be, just head down to Reid Oval from 2-4pm on Wednesdays.

The advert seems a bit vague, but I’m assuming it targets street kids, refugees etc.. but anybody can have a go. This is a great concept, they even have a street world cup. What a great way to build self-confidence in those that certainly need some.

^^
Played by street kids?

how is it street soccer, if it is played at an oval?
