Strip bars OK in the middle of the city as long as they float?

By johnboy - 22 June 2009 41

In the discussion surrounding threepaws’ image of a party boat on the lake Realityskin (who has a nose for these things) pointed out the Lakeside Ferry Cruises’ Party Strippers page.

On their “Showboat Girls” page they promise topless waitresses and lap dances in an “Adult Floating Nightclub” every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

There’s also a dedicated website for the enterprise.

Now I don’t have a particular objection to this sort of business, but I had thought it was supposed to be confined to the industrial precincts.

So it’s OK as long as it floats?

What’s Your opinion?

They will need to be careful of the Pontoon effect –

well at least it doesn’t get that choppy on the lake – could you imagine pole dancing with big waves… ouch…

So, what happens when the patrons get too rowdy and need to be thrown out of the venue by the bouncer………….I want to see that, be almost as entertaining as the show!!

I imagined sort of moistened burlesque.

They’d probably do better catering to hen’s nights by getting some boys to wobble their pink bits.

Having hired one of thier boats for a birthday bash, i am not surprised that this is what they offer. Very sleazy operator… good idea but could be so much better…

When we had a party on that boat, quite a few of the drunken male party goers ended up having a go on the pole too. It should be outlawed. πŸ˜‰

maybe the company is based in fyshwick? or the nasty end of the lake past kingston foreshore?

How big must the covering of her ladybits have to be to satisfy your prudish sensibility?

Two band-aids ad a champagne cork should just about do it.

I rate this thread 5 Stars.

They have been advertising in the Chronicle’s Entertainment section for a while, too.
They only show (slightly) covered women in their advertising, which makes me think the servcice they’re running is just a ‘skimpy tease’ (no nipples, no genitals) instead of the ‘full tease’ (all is bare, but no touching).

‘Skimpy tease’ skirts around licensing issues mostly by asking questions of “How big must the covering of her ladybits have to be to satisfy your prudish sensibility? She could get away with wearing less than that on any public beach in the country…”

FIIK what law she’d be subject to if she did a ‘full tease’ and expose her assets in front of a bunch of people on an enclosed vessel being used for a private function, but the operator might need to check whatever authorisations or Agreements they have with the Territory for use of Lake Burley Griffin, re: Lakes Act 1976 (Section 26: Use of power boats elements 1-4, Section 33: Agreements for use of a lake area or Section 34: Commerical activities in lake area).

Views from the Immigration bridge should be pretty choice then!

Time to start a website selling binoculars, maps of the lake and timetables to teenage boys…

Is this part of the Griffin legacy ?

How about Club X as well? That’s not in an industrial area.
Maybe they can slip through the restrictions on a technicality of something.
