Stromlo burn

ACT Parks and Conservation Service is planning to undertake a Hazard Reduction Burn tomorrow, Friday 24 February 2012, weather permitting.

The burn will commence at approximately 12:00am at Stromlo Forest Park.

One heavy tanker, one compressed air foam system (CAFS), one light unit, 1 command vehicle and fifteen personnel will conduct the burn covering a total area of approximately thirteen hectares.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is J12

Should that be 12pm, as in lunchtime? Can’t imagine them getting out there at midnight and doing it.

The smoke will neutralise the dust at the Canberra Show. Excellent planning and co-ordination. The forecast 31 degrees will get the fire moving along.
Does “hazard reduction” mean they are going to take out some cyclists as well?
