The Canberra Times has a story on the rising tide of parking fines in suburban areas as increasingly desperate commuters lace up their walking shoes:
Fewer fines were issued in the larger centres, such as Civic, Woden, Belconnen and Tuggeranong, but several new parking hot spots emerged in the suburbs.
The city’s ”beige bombers” were increasingly active in Braddon (an extra 1480 fines issued since 2008-09), Garran (up 645), Campbell (up 289), Parkes and Barton (each up 254).
Nice air quotes.
