ACT Policing has arrested an 18-year-old Wanniassa man following an aggravated robbery in Weston last night (Tuesday, December 4).

Around 9.20pm two men entered the Subway. The men covered their faces with their shirts and threatened staff with a pair of scissors demanding cash.

The men then fled the store and were immediately confronted by police.

One man was apprehended a short time later and police are looking for a second offender. He is described as Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander in appearance approximately 170cm (5’7”) tall with a slim build.

He fled the scene in a blue station wagon with dark tinted windows, in the direction of Namatjira Drive. The vehicle is suspected to be stolen.

The Wanniassa man has been charged with aggravated robbery and will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Wednesday, December 5).

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has seen a blue station wagon matching the above description is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

“They fled the store”. Please tell me they weren’t running with scissors.

when I finally get a my license I shall buy a POS car that hardly works and just put a steering lock on the wheel. Then no-one will even want to steal it.

There are plenty of car thieves that do not care. They steal anything, simply for amusement or to get them from there to somewhere else. If you really don’t want it stolen you’ll have to make sure it’s a very good steering lock, and preferably have other deterrants in place too.

Hi all, The “Blue Station Wagon” is unmissable. It belongs to a mate. It’s a 1979 Toyota Corolla (KE38) station wagon, modified and freshly painted. It’s a one of a kind in Canberra.

Just saw a car matching that description doing donuts in Bundah.

Call 131444 and report it. I’m sure Police would be keen to catch up with these clowns.

Scissors? Really? Fairly lazy crims when all you need is rock to thwart them.

When he gets to Namatjira Drive I hope he find Namatjira’s drive and turns around.

Don’t mess with Weston!
