wrong way

This in from an anonymous reader:

Car drove a significant way from Hindmarsh Dr to Cotter Rd on the complete opposite side (doing the speed limit) narrowly avoiding oncoming traffic.

I usually keep a distance between myself and any accident waiting to happen. Why was he following the confused driver so closely?

Based on what is viewable, there are two fkwits to come out of this: the one driving on the wrong side of the road, and the one who uses what I assume is his phone to film for an extended period while driving, giggling every time there is a near miss instead of using the phone to call police before someone innocent was wiped out for his amusement and Youtube account. Doesn’t even call out the number plate. Useless twat.

I think that they didn’t bother to orientate their phone for best picture is a plus, and you can clearly see there was no-one ahead of them. No surprise they didn’t see the number plate; next you will claim that registering cyclists will achieve anything 🙂

Hmm, call the police, they (have been known to) not give a shit / put on youtube, they HAVE to

If you look a bit further into the profile of the dude who posted the video, he is a fine upstanding citizen himself….

Just got done doin 37kms over the limit.. I have to stop speeding everywhere………

I wouldn’t be surprised if this didn’t come out as a prank. Surely no one is that dumb… Surely?

Memories. Shortly after I got my license, so 1988, northbound on The Parkway, accelerating to 100 from the Sulwood intersection I saw these headlights far ahead in the distance, seemed odd as I didn’t remember a hill there, but I’m new. The next moment, the woman on my left went straight into the bucket of the grader that was heading for the construction park. Those lights that looked so far away were just very weak.

I can’t understand why anyone would do this. I hope they find the person and throw the book at them

What I find remarkable, aside from the unbelievable stupidity of the driver on the wrong side of the road, is that of the 19 cars that passed the idiot only one blew their horn and it didn’t appear that anyone was flashing their lights either. Now had they all been hard on their horns maybe, just maybe the genius would have realised sooner, assuming he or she wasn’t already aware, that they were going the wrong way and attempted to do a U-turn.

That person should not be on the roads. Making a mistake is one thing, but continuing on for hundreds of metres like that is a sign of somebody whose decision-making ability is severely handica[pped and who therefore should not be issued a licence.

I saw one of these quite a few years ago on the Hume about halfway to Sydney.- idiot turned onto the West lanes heading Southbound.
That one ended in the deaths of both drivers – the idiot heading the wrong way, and the idiot in the fast lane who obviousloy wasn’t paying attention.

At least he’s in the left lane unlike you. Learn how to drive.

voytek3, in light of the video, I retract my previous comment and agree with you 100%. Driving in the right lane on a 100km/h road, not overtaking and filming at speed, yep learn to drive. Had to laugh when early in the video the car on the wrong side was indicating left, I gather they realised pretty early on they were on the wrong side, but makes you wonder why they didn’t stop though.

PS whilst not quite as bad as this, saw a (Victorian registered) car turn of Tilyard Drive onto Lhotsky Street in Charnwood last night, however the car turned onto the wrong side of the traffic island. Fortunately the car going the other way saw him early and stopped dead the moment he saw the other car. Though it did take the car on the wrong side about 15m to realise. Again buggered if I know how you can turn like that as the ‘natural’ turn will take you onto the correct lane, to go the wrong side you need a much sharper turn.

so there are two drivers I need to avoid – the OP who is holding a camera while driving and the person with poor spatial awareness.

There’s video of it too, although the person taking the video is almost as stupid because he is filming it while driving….

Salmon booty call!

Tad harsh for all you know the poster is overtaking! I mean to say its not like you can see the left lane and what is in it.

As for this driver I am buggered if I can work out HOW you could even get on the wrong side. Coming off Hindmarsh it is not easy to turn the wrong way up the up ramp, except maybe, if you come from the Weston Creek way, but in doing so you would pass the legit onramp anyway. There is a concrete barrier down the middle so no way to just cross. Really makes you wonder.

This type of madness has been going on for decades and we can thank the upsurge in dash cams and mobiles for bringing it into our lounge rooms.

Is this the 2nd time in a month or so, or the same incident as a few weeks ago?

At least he’s in the left lane unlike you. Learn how to drive.
