Get your tight jeans and thick rimmed glasses out; the New Acton Suitcase Rummage is back!

This in from New Acton:

Suitcase Rummage started in Brisbane with a couple of people wanting people without pretension and markets without a mardi gras of racks and banners. Coupled with NewActon, they’re encouraging Canberrans to fill some suitcases with anything other than mass produced goods – handmade and second hand are popular options – and sell them from a picnic-rug plot of grass. NewActon are throwing in summertime music to make this a great day for Christmas shopping or wardrobe cleansing. If coffee’s not enough, bring your own wine or get a beer from the bar.

Sunday, Dec 16, 12.30-4.30pm. Free entry. Suitcase registration is $25 (insurance etc.) but there’s no commission on any sales. http://suitcase-rummage.blogspot.com.au/p/canberra.html. Please register before the day.

So the idea is to sell your second hand goods (save the environment etc), yet they want to charge? I don’t think the value of all the items i could fit in a suitcase and sell wouldn’t reach $25.

Depends on how much you cut the product

Who owns a suitcase?

Dishonest promo – they are implying that the 25 smackeroonis per suitcase is just for insurance. Nonsense. 90 per cent plus of that will go to the entrepreneurs. Nothing more annoying than hardheaded entrepreneurs (nothing wrong with those per se!) pretending to be boho, econo-naif hippies.

Not getting sufficient praise for your work? Hey, pat yourself on the back! “Thank you to the amazing Belinda Suzette for these beautiful posters. Isn’t she incredible?!” on the business’s page …. um, Belinda Suzette is the market coordinator thanking herself here, according to the Kish & Co website!

Taking trendoid marketing to a new nadir.

You sound very angry, at what is basically a dress sale…

A ‘without pretension’ event in New Acton?

I can only assume that they will be banning the residents and other wankers who usually frequent the coffee shops and bars for the duration?

“We’re having NEW AGE FUN with a VINTAGE FEEL!”

Yes, New Acton always screams ‘without pretension’ to me, every time I pass that way.

But this sounds like fun.
