Just heard reports that Chic Henry has sold Summernats to another group.

It will be held here in Canberra in 2010 (one hopes only after EPIC has been paid), but might be moving on afterwards.

We’ll post more info as it comes to hand.

Summernats is on…… Yahoo!!! Thank goodness!! All thanks to Chic for battling on.
This the only event in Canberra that brings some life to this boring so called City full of narrow minded whingers. Only my family and the yearly pilgramage to the Summernats keeps us here. I hope it’s a huge show (as it always is) and it really annoys all of you that don’t like it. Good on you Showgirl, I’m with you!!!

Feel free to leave, anytime you want. If you’re only living here because of a single four day t1ts and beer festival masquarding as a carshow then I think you might need to reconsider what narrow-minded means. Pot to kettle: “how black?”.

what does it have to do with the receivers if the company that is currently running Summernats has been sold??? If I remember correctly, the old company went into liquidation and the new company took over until summernats was sold.

Move it to the gold coast thats far enough north

Shame JB failed to mention that the receivers are yet to hear of the proposal. As it stands this is just Spiv Henry’s spin.

It’d be nice if it went back to what it was in teh first years, an enthusiasts event. It was about the cars. Loved it.

However, if Henry is running it, forget it. Tits’n’tits’n’booze with cars as a brand.

Another funny porn shop moment was when an elderly gent approached the counter and said rather loudly: “I’m from Tasmania.”
“That’s all right Sir, we serve everybody,” was the immediate response from the man behind the counter.
(Maybe you had to be there. It certainly made this old bird chuckle.)

When the masters games came to Canberra the sex shops recorded record sales…

Overheard while in pr0n store buying fireworks, said by woman holding basket, to partner, “OK, thats everything on the list…”

If the new owners can’t guarantee the event will be better controlled and remain in Canberra in the future then the government should not allow it to occur here in 2010. Too much of a risk for too little return.

It’s true – Summernats and around Anzac day are peak porn selling days for the local smut shops. Take away one of these and they’ll have to start targeting the oldies on the interstate Floriade buses *shudder to think about it*.

And now, we’re all getting images… 😛

Ozchick sez: The adult entertainment industry in Canberra would be devastated.

Summernats has never bothered me, but I live Southside 🙂

Living in Watson, back in the day, I always said the burnout noises were drowned out by the whingeing from the community association. And yes the supercruise was fantastic.

Well said!!!

Yeah, let’s not ever again allow anything in Canberra that might offend anyone. Unless it is a useless eyesore and waste of money like an “immigration bridge” or a big pile of scrap metal right beside the road.

I blame bottled water.

Really? The other 360 days of the year aren’t enough to keep them afloat?

It used to be a fun event. The first few years, with the supercruise, were great. Ordinary people had their chairs out on the footpath to watch it, oldies, youngies, the lot. But then it changed.

Move it on. Surely Canberra can make a buck some other way?! I’m into cars, but I’m against the northern suburbs being overrun by a mob of drunken yobs every new year.

Apologies. Of course, not everyone that goes to summernats is a drunken yob. Just some of them.

And does Mr Henry get to keep his job, and his monster salary?

This of course is the only important thing to know. Cause if he does, then nothing has really changed. And if he goes, we’ll get some comparison to see how good a job he has been doing recent years.

That’ll make Meredith and the greens happy. She was whingeing about their burnouts being bad for air quality of local residents.

And does Mr Henry get to keep his job, and his monster salary? That would make sense, I guess, as he hasn’t yet finished running it into oblivion.
