Summernats 26 broke a Guinness World Record for the most amount of cars in simultaneous burnout on January 4, 2013 in Canberra, Australia. When the massive blanket of smoke eventually cleared, Chris Sheedy from Guinness World Records told the 10,000 plus crowd that exactly 69 cars had managed to complete a 30 second burnout. Sixty nine. That’s a ‘Nats kind of number.

Drivers came from all across Australia to fry their tyres together in this historic event, some traveling thousands of kilometres from Western Australian and Northern Queensland to take part in the rare feat.

138 tyres x 30 seconds x over 35,000 horsepower = 1 world record.

Thank you to the drivers, staff and sponsors for making this incredible event happen.

You’ve gotta admire it in a way.

One can’t help but wonder how carcinogenic that smoke cloud is.

I wouldn’t worry too much about that .. if their lungs survived the burn-out, their livers will probably succumb to all the consumed bogan juice instead.

Oh, I thought it was another chemical fire in Mitchell. Did anyone get an SMS from emergency services??

No, I don’t think that would have been necessary. The resadents were already aware of this insadent.

Now if only we could get the tyres made from high concentration THC hemp we’d be on a winner and that really would send me into a spin!

What about the other record that was surely broken at the time ? The highest concentration of braindead bogans in one place all at the same time.

Haha too true

Oh, I thought it was another chemical fire in Mitchell. Did anyone get an SMS from emergency services??

Perhaps the rest of the world had moved onto more important goals such as reducing air pollution

Reduce air pollution? Hello, this is Canberra, not China

As I am a NSW resident with an unlimited supply of free plastic shopping bags, I may well increase my already humunguous collection in time for the next Summernuts and have a simultaneous burning…

I for 1 hope they try to beat it next year with 70 cars if only to piss all of you off.

This didn’t piss me off in any way, shape or form.

Rather, I was a bit amused that thousands of people would find standing in a huge cloud of thick rubber smoke to be an enjoyable experience.

What about the other record that was surely broken at the time ? The highest concentration of braindead bogans in one place all at the same time.

Nothing says “Bogan” quite like the World’s Biggest Burnout.

What an utterly silly, wasteful and banal thing to do!

what an achievement for mankind.. truly I have tears in my eye….

“Burn rubber, not tobacco.”

Genius! 😆

Perhaps the rest of the world had moved onto more important goals such as reducing air pollution

Between this and the world record for christmas lights Canberra is building up an unexpected international profile.
