Supporting democracy, not buying votes.

Community Services Minister Joy Burch has been a bit naughty according to the ABC, handing out ALP Show Bags at a local high school.

Don’t worry though, Andrew Barr assures us she was just helping support “things about the democratic process”.

He adds that it was the school’s responsibility to decide what was appropriate for the students to receive. Of course it is, because a school principle looking for career advancement won’t hesitate to tell a minister what not to do.

Perhaps Joy got some ideas about hand outs and votes from this article.

So, politicians, schools and elections, where should we draw a line?

I’m sure there’s a relevant agency to which someone could have made a formal and very public complaint. Love to see how they’d try to squirm out of that one. My god these people are pathetic. One step about used-car salesmen.

One final thing. PRINCIPAL

you sure you don’t mean “one step above used-car salesmen”

tricky thing about pointing out minor errors in other people’s writing – someone might turn around and find similar errors in your own.

just sayin’

Continue to be amazed.

One minute they’re educating children by handing out needles full of heroin to pre-schoolers, the next they’re handing out even more dangerous how-to-vote-Labor materials?
Next thing you know, they’ll be inviting Big-Pharma into the classroom to give samples of contraceptives to six year olds, and let the Scarlet Alliance reps show them how to impress boys with the Chilean Miner technique.

The world’s gone mad I tells ya!
/sarcasm

But having Andrew Barr say everything was fine, when he’d have a field day if it was the Liberal Party doing it is an amazing bit of hypocrisy.

I reckon Zed Instead and all his cronies should do the same thing, just to even up the ledger. Then listen to the squeals.

I bet Andrew would have a different view if Alistair or Zed were handing out Liberal showbags.
