Surgeon for inguinal hernia in Canberra?

Hi there, anyone out there had surgery on an inguinal hernia?

Looking for surgeon recommendations in Canberra. Appreciate hearing good reports.

Dr Amir Butt repaired my inguinal hernia. He was excellent. I had it done at Calvary private. Out of pocket expenses roughly $5.5k. Surgery was 10 days after first seeing him.

Anyone had recent experience with this? I’ve got both umbilical & inguinal hernias to get sorted.

Did you go public or private?
What was the approximate out of pocket expenses?
How long did you have to wait for the surgery?
Would you recommend the surgeon, if so who?

Dr Vince Ferraro in Manuka. Appears to have a special interest in hernias and operates both in private and public. I know several people who swear by him FWIW

My partner got out of hospital this morning after having his hernia repaired yesterday. Dr James Lim at Calvary gave excellent care and was great at communicating pre and post op. The surgery photos were a little gruesome for my taste, but recovery seems to be going well!
