Tadpoles in Sulivan's Creek

Just remember that death is not the end.
Oh the tree of life is growing
Where the spirit never dies

The brutal concrete stormwater drains, scoured as they are after every downpour, don’t seem like a natural place to find any life.

So when I looked down into a damaged patch, where the water pools deeper, today I was surprised to see things moving around.

Closer inspection revealed tadpoles! Where they came from and where they’re going remains a mystery but I found it strangely affirming.

(The tadpole is a third of the way up the picture and a third across from the left, apologies for the photographic inadequacies of my iphone)

bloody nature, it’s everywhere! 🙂

Great having frogs is a good sign!

I believe there’s plans to create a wetlands environment in Dickson too, so hopefully this means more insects, frogs and birdlife in the inner north in future.

this is a ways upstream of the wetlands

The pond/wetland areas behind the O’Connor shops, which in some way links into Sullies Creek, is chocka with tadpoles. Maybe some got washed down the drain

Given the racket the frogs make down that way whenever it rains, it kinda stands to reason that there would be some tadpoles about – but it is nice to see them in action, as it were.

Sorry that was “frogs” not “froms”.

Froms are notoriously opportunistic beasties. They’ll pretty much screw in a puddle so to see them in Sully’s is great but probably not that exceptional.

Where they came from … remains a mystery

well, when a man frog and a lady frog really love each other, the man frog puts his…

well spotted – hope they last long enough to hop.
