The ABC informs us that Dickson’s beloved Tak Kee Roast Inn (the place with those tasty, tasty ducks hanging in the window) has had its fine for being run like an authentic chinese restaurant bumped on appeal from $1,500 to $6,900 (as well as having the regrettable incident re-broadcast).

I for one will be luncheoning on BBQ duck and pork within the week.

As much as I appreciate reading reviews of restaurants I make it a rule never to use unsupported anecdotal evidence when when weighing up the risk of potentially life-threatening illness.

You never ever use toilets in a asian resturant, I would rather go into a pub to use their tiolets, which I have done in the past.

….anyone actually suffered any ill effects from eating there ?????

..I haven’t

Try the pork chops!

c’mon, it’s a chinese restaurant – what do we expect?

tak kee is my second kitchen. it rocks – bestest duck in canberra, and tasty salt baked squid, too. never been sick from there (though have had food poisoning from ‘upmarket’ sterile places, including qantas…)

yay for tak kee. hope they don’t up their prices to recoup this fine, though.

How the hell do these magistrates expect us to build up a tolerance to disease, if they keep shutting down disease ridden food distributers?

Their duck’s great! Maybe keeping it outside makes it more tasty!

TheHoney-Pepper pork chops are awesome, salmonella aside!

I looooooooooove their duck.

I’m going to have to go there tonight because of this damn thread.

Loved the part about the competition from wild birds.

I went there once and had to use their toilet… I have not been back since and will never return. Fantastic that the fine is so high, here’s hoping they do something about the state of the place.

I for one don’t mind if they prepared meals in the alleyway. As long as it’s tasty and doesn’t kill me I’m up for it.

They also do awesome Char Siu.
